It is another opportunity for Nigerian fans to see their new re-invigorated national team play again after defeating Zambia and Algeria in their world cup qualifiers.... but were regretably missing at the Africa Cup Nations (AFCON) showdown in Gabon, which Cameroon won.
Of course, Cameroon victory as AFCON Champions have heighten anixety, since they are Super Eagles next opponent in Away and Home match up...on August 27 in Cameroon and September 6 in Nigeria. Many pundits believe these two games will determine who eventually qualifies for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
But before then, Super Eagle will have to meet Bafana Bafana of South Africa in 2019 AFCON qualifiers in June. Both NFF technical committee and Super Eagles team's Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, are not leaving any stone unturned. Nigeria must qualify for 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 AFCON... that's the mandate.
The friendly is one of the build ups... to test new players as well as blend the team for the upcoming task.
Something more like a jamboree, as they welcome some new players set to make their debut in the friendly game. Leon Balogun welcome Bazee on Twitter, Wilffed Ndidi, Isaac Success...are set to make their senior national team debut in this game.
Athough, captain Mikel Obi, Brown Ideye, Odion Ighalo and injured Victor Moses will not be available for the game.
No qualms, as Nigerian team have on ground Assistant Captain Ahmed Musa, Ogeniyi Onazi and the entreprising young stars Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Osihmen... We expect a keenly contested friendly.
